Laura and Ben’s Carlyon Bay Wedding

A Carlyon Bay Wedding

When Laura and Ben contacted me to say they were having a Carlyon Bay wedding I assumed (wrongly as it turned out) that they had chosen the Carlyon Bay Hotel for their celebrations but no!    Ben grew up in the area and his family own a holiday resort in the bay so this was to be a private family wedding with Cornish Celebrants carrying out the official duties.

I met Laura and Ben at the family home in the summer and Laura explained the vision she had for her wedding day.   Purple (her favourite colour) was pretty prominent in her plans and I could tell from our first meeting that a lot of work was going into the big day.   Laura had started collecting hundreds of hydrangea petals from the grounds  to make her own confetti to keep with the colour theme and by the day of the wedding in September she had loads ready to throw.

Laura had asked me when we met, what we would do if it rained on the day.   “I’ll get wet” was my reply and sure enough, that’s what happened.   It didn’t stop us taking a few umbrella themed portraits around the gardens  though before heading back to the marquee for a celebration party.

Thank you Laura and Ben for hiring me and the next time someone says, “We’re having a Carlyon Bay wedding” I won’t try and guess where they mean.
